I continue my journey through the wilderness. But at least I got my taxes done.

Health Issues
So, my gallbladder has some updates. The surgery for its removal is scheduled for early April. Hence, I needed to file my taxes early. Everyone is on board for the procedure, and the day is already set. I've been given a "Better than 50% chance" that they'll be able to perform the non-invasive removal procedure.
Why not 80% or 90%? Well, because I had major abdominal surgery decades ago, there is a massive amount of scar tissue along the length of my abdomen. Anatomically, it looks like a warzone in there. I'll spare you the gory details of the potential complications. All this aside, I may be "out" for a few weeks, right in the middle of tax season. So, my priority lately has been getting my taxes done.
The tube coming from my abdomen has a lot of slack in it (for good reason), and it tends to get snagged on stuff. I've already gone to the Emergency Room twice this month because I've pulled out my stitches. It takes HOURS to confirm that the tube is still properly positioned in the gallbladder and for the sutures to be replaced.
I'm not one to ask for prayers, but a few quick petitions wouldn't hurt. I've been through abdominal surgery before. The recovery is rough. I'm not really looking forward to the procedure, but this abdominal drain is very limiting and annoying. I'm at the point where I just want this over with.
The Next Book
Not much has changed with the upcoming book. My wife is going to try to read the rest of the book (20-some chapters) over her Spring Break vacation. I've updated all of the typos and continuity issues she's found. I still have a couple of revision passes left to do. Then, the next phase is to figure out how I'm going to pay for edits, formatting, and artwork.
I'm also considering doing another Halsedric book. I have the seed of an idea that I'm mulling over. I won't go into details, mainly because once I write down my plans...they change.
Anyhow, I've moved from creating to production. Production is almost always a long, drawn-out ordeal.

To see my full schedule, check out the EVENTS section of my website. And, as always, if there is an event that you'd like me to attend, reach out to me at author@hphunterwriter.com.
Unfortunately, having lost my job and with a massive reduction in income, I probably won't be doing a lot of live events. I'll be sticking to shows that only happen on Saturdays and Sundays, and limit myself to the Detroit Metro area. Hopefully, next year this will change. Hopefully...
If you were hoping to purchase a paperback from me at an event, you can always purchase it from my online store. While you may not receive special event pricing, you can use code BIONICHEDGE2026 at checkout to receive a 20% discount on your entire purchase. Every paperback you purchase comes signed and with a bookmark. I also send along a pen with each purchase (I really like the pens - I use them myself).
Substack Articles
Despite my current condition, I've been trying to be consistent in updating my Substack page. Check out some of my recent articles:
Please consider subscribing to my Substack (use the link above) as I have plans to provide paid / exclusive content on the site in the future.
The Revenant and the Tomb Campaign
Thus far, sales have been good. February pushed me over 100 copies of eBooks sold. In March, I cracked 150 copies sold. Some of this has been paid ads, though a good chunk of it has been word of mouth. What also helped were a couple of shout-outs and references by Larry Correia. Whenever that happened, my sales spiked.
As with before, I'm not making money on the eBooks. of the 99¢, I get something like 32¢. In order to generate a profit, I'd have to sell three times what I make with each ad campaign I run. However, because I'm not spending a ton of money this year, I think my losses will be pretty minimal. Plus, I do get some residual audiobook and paperback sales.
Conclusion.
Things are moving slowly, and I have a very uncertain future at present. I'm sorry there's not much to report, and April will probably be more of the same.
That's all for now.
